How Vijayawada Taught Me the Hardest Sales Lesson — and Gave Me the Sweetest Victory

In my career selling Google 360 Virtual Tours for businesses across India, I’ve traveled to many states, walked into countless shops, and met owners face-to-face. I’ve always believed that when you show up in person, things just work. And they usually did.

But in 2022, Vijayawada had other plans for me.

Day 1: The Bumpy Start in 1 Town, Vijayawada

I landed in Vijayawada with high energy and my usual sales swagger. I stayed in a place called 1 Town, a local hub filled with small shops and local businesses. This is my kind of battlefield!

I began my day with my usual routine — walking into shops, pitching confidently, and showing them how Google 360 Virtual Tour can make their business stand out online.

Usually, I’d close 2-3 deals a day, easy. But this time? Not even a single one.

People smiled, nodded, and said, “This is good. We’ll take it.”

But when it came to paying? Silence. Ghost town vibes

Day 2 to Day 7: Motivated But... Rejected

I told myself, “Hey, maybe it’s just the first day. Let’s bounce back stronger.”

But day two was no different. Neither was day three. Nor four…

By the end of the week, I had only 3 deals — and even those payments were pending. Work was done. Money? Still dreaming.

I returned to Hyderabad with ₹30,000 in hand and a bill of over ₹40,000 for hotel, food, and travel. Net loss — mentally, emotionally, and financially.

When I shared my experience with mentors, even they laughed and said,
“Bro, Vijayawada people don’t trust easily. Don’t try again.”

But something inside me didn’t want to give up.

The Turning Point: Mindset Matters

A month later, I started reading about consumer psychology and local buyer mindsets. That’s when a realization hit me:

“If they trust you once, they give everything to you.”

I knew I had to go back. Not to prove them wrong — but to prove myself right.

The Comeback: A Sweeter Sales Strategy

Everyone warned me, “Why go back to Vijayawada? It’s a risk.”

But I went anyway. This time, with a new planDon’t start with small shops. Go big.

My first stop: Magic Sweets, one of the biggest sweet outlets in Vijayawada with over 10 stores. They signed up instantly.

Next: Cherry’s Sweets, another huge brand. They joined too.

One by one, I closed 4-5 big outlets. Then I returned to the local market, but this time with a new twist. I said:

“See these big names? They’re already using our Google 360 Virtual Tour.”

Suddenly, the trust walls broke down like butter in summer. The same people who ignored me earlier were now offering chai and asking:

“Brother, how soon can you do ours too?”

Victory: ₹3.5 Lakhs in 15 Days

In just 15 days, I made ₹3.5 lakhs and came back to Hyderabad with a full heart and an even fuller wallet.

So what’s the moral of the story?

Sales Lesson from Vijayawada: Sheep Fact Always Wins

No matter where you go in India, people follow people. If one person takes a service, others are more likely to trust it. I call it the Sheep Fact — and it works every time.

Never take rejection personally. Learn, adapt, and go again — with better strategy, not just motivation.

And if anyone ever tells you, “Don’t go back,” smile and say,
“That’s exactly why I’m going back.”
